The Lowcountry Area Agency on Aging (AAA) works under the guidance of the SC Department on Aging to provide assistance and services to eligible seniors. The Lowcountry AAA identifies and prepares a plan to meet the needs of the senior population. They offer grants, legal aid, an ombudsman, and Medicare support.

The GUIDE Model provides Medicare coverage for a comprehensive package of care coordination and care management for people with dementia, along with support for qualifying caregivers including education and respite services. The model’s interventions help people with dementia to remain in their homes and communities while supporting caregiver health and wellbeing.

Online Respite Locator is a service to help families and professionals locate respite services in their community from a database of nearly 3,000 members.
- South Carolina Respite Coalition
The focus of the Respite Voucher Program is caregiver relief. They award vouchers in the amount of $500 to eligible family caregivers.
